Local engine rebuilder ?
« on: September 01, 2014, 10:49:11 PM »
Hi there,
Can anyone recommend an engine rebuilder for a 400 in the Portsmouth / Southampton area ?
My restoration has slowed down a bit and I think getting the engine done, if the price is not too inhibitive, may kickstart things (or electric start them!)
I would be looking at a basic strip, clean, check and rebuild. Don't think I would go as far as vapour blasting etc.

Also, what should the rough costs be for an engine rebuild. The engine was good when laid up but that was many years ago.

Cheers

If you want to come as far as Gloucester i will do it. labour £60-£100 depending on what exactly needs doing plus parts as required and that wont be known till stripped

No mate, rarely do them nowadays and only to help out members on here, that don't include any type of case cleaning (except joint surfaces)
