Yep running bike is what I need!

Nice, I just find out that my head will not be ready for a while yet...
Interesting what you saying about smoothing out the flow, I was under impression that it is good to have a rough intake, someone made a point that rough surface helps mixing mixture, I wonder if its right.
Cant wait for pictures.

I think adequate mixing would likely happen regardless of flow pattern, but again, I'm no engineer, just a newbie on a forum hoping to end up with a bike that runs!  :)

Oddjob, getting that spring with rubber or just rubber would be nice, think it has to be a reason for it, so would like to use it.
Please let me know when you find it.

Hahahah
MrT seems like we are working along same path, I cant wait to see your build, it is going to be ACE plus you are the closest to me (I think)
I'm hoping to get my valve guide sorted this week, actually just about to go and chase it up.

Hello,
I'm slowly putting my engine together.
I wonder how important is rubber/plastic tube in which spring for cam chain tensioner.

Just fixed my tensioner by bending ever so slightly teeth on the adjustment bit and realized that the part opposite adjustment screw was loose and that made teeth jumping over.
There is a bit of wear on the teeth but not on the screw, I think it will be fine.
My only concern is the tube in which spring seats, mine was cracked and while pulling it apart it broke as it was brittle.
Do I need to find replacement?

Thanks

Thumbs up!
My only worry would be all the road crap on the back of your jacket :)
I like idea of brass, colors look very nice.

When do you think you will get bike on the road?

Thank you Lobo for recommendation, I will see what's gonna happen, I found a nice old gent locally who will try to do it for me.
I dont know if it is materials or what, but not impressed with the way previous engineer dealt with the whole situation.
I'm over it now, just want to ride.

Thank you guys for all info, I will have my CB on the road this year... I hope.

Hello,
I have 550f and super keen to have Yoshi style pipes, so long oil filter can be changed with pipes on.

Thanks!

Don't understand how DS part can be so bad.
Pictures of Dyna S show neet black plastic parts, while DS is all open, which is not ideal and prone for damage, but thats all.
It looks less protected I suppose it is saving some money.
Is it not working properly?
Please explain in plain language.

Thank you

I'm so, glad there is someone who struggling with understanding it too.
I thought the answer is simply pay another 99 to DS for electronic ignition... how wrong I was.

Still since I don't have 99 so I have to use original ignition, and it seems it is not a bad idea after all!

CB500/550 / Valve seat guide
« on: December 01, 2014, 10:28:50 PM »
So, after almost 6 months and two broken exhaust valve seats guides, I'm looking for a new engineering shop who can do it...
Is it really difficult to do? I thought, you need press and bloody push old one out and then squeeze new one in after freezing it.

I didn't get charged for work, and they did honed cylinder block but I rather have job done.

Bloody boooring.

Any one can recommend a place to do this job around London preferably North London?

Thanks
