Cheers Paul.
I should be OK, in that case.
Regards.

Sorry for jumping in.
But in the detail bottom left of diagram. Is suggests Not all the oil goes through the filter eliment. Am I correct?
What is the purpose of the spring loaded valve inside the bolt?
Would it be possible to shorted the bolt thread by 10mm without compromising its operation?
I ask this because I want to fit a oil cooler I have had for years, but have lost the sandwich plate adapter bolt. So I have had one made but.
I cannot get the filter housing to close up to the plate. There is a 10mm gap. Shortening the thread on the filter bolt would cure this. But I'm worried that by doing so. I may restrict the oil flow.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Sean.

I have no doubts the old CB would run rings around the Enfield. New or old.

What's wrong with doing it yourself?
They are a very simple carb.
Get a couple of cans of carb cleaner
And a few bristles from a wire brush. And away you go.
Have a relaxing hour or two in the shed.
I personally have no faith in Ultrasonic cleaning.
The Emperors new clothes in my opinion.
Regards.
Sean.

Hello Philip.
I see you are a fellow Motorsport owner.
A lovely bike to ride. But must be used very regularly. Or they become a right pain in the arse. Sticking valves are one such problem.
How far off running is your XL?

Making comparison to Royal Enfield!
The Enfield were obsolete 50's singles, when the Cb was released. And they have made no significant developments since.
So to say the Cb is comparable to a R E is a insult to say the least!

I think you are right about the Solenoid being a later one, as it has a green/red wire. Which I suppose will connect to the black. Also the mounting tang for the fuse box is missing.
The bike was originally from the US. But now has UK spec
Electrics.

CB750 / Maybe a dumb question. But....
« on: January 12, 2019, 02:39:30 PM »
On the 750k1 I am building. There is a yellow & red wire from the starter solenoid. There is also a matching wire from the harness in the same area. But they both have male connectors.
Is there something missing?

I saw that.
It would have made a good project.

In answer to my own question No!
Far too much farting about.
Bought the correct switches. Job done.

I'm sorry but I could not disagree more.
The most wear on a engine occurs in the first 5 mins of running. Also filling the exhaust with corrosive condensation.
Plus contaminating the oil.
I have 14 bikes 2&4 strokes & never have a carb problem.
I only use BP ultimate petrol. And prior to laying up for winter.
All I do is. Switch of the fuel. & open the carb drains screws.
& leave them open. Never a problem.
Sean.

Maybe you should get one.
The Cb/CD 175 is without doubt amongst the best bikes
Honda have made. Robust simplicity with big bike feel.
Great fun, on the right roads. Far superior to the Cb250.

CB750 / Re: Cb750k1 ignition switch?

The Xl Motorsport has points.
But the switching was different.
I've got my Brother coming round tonight to have a look at the electrics. He's a bit of a wiz with this sort of thing.
But most of all he's got patience. Something I don't have.

Cheers Ash.
What a revelation they must have been back then.
Compared to the opposition. Bantams, Cubs, Plovers etc.
I must dig out my Sloper this season.
Its great little thing to ride, till it hits a bump mid bend.
Then all hell breaks loose! Serious lack of rebound damping.
The 6v electrics are useless. But all in all. A great little bike.

Already done that. They are different.
The switches look the same & the plug /socket match.
But when I tried to fit the switch on my Xl250 motorsport
It made the wrong connections.
I would like to use up this switch if I can. Rather than buy another & still have this one stuck on the shelf.
