Honda CB750 Four K4 1974
« on: July 11, 2024, 11:11:11 PM »
Hi all I thinking of getting another Honda CB750 Four it’s a Honda CB750 Four K4 1974 it’s not the original engine in the bike but it comes with the original engine he’s sent me pictures of the vin tag on the frame steering stock it says CB750 - 2500 but not showing the rest of the frame number and the engine number is CB750 E - 2377795 is this correct for a K4 1974 as I looked on vintage CB750 Model identification chart it doesn’t show that frame number and engine number for that bike it says for a CB750 K4 1974 Frame number CB750 - 2300001 and engine number CB750E - 2300001 just wondering if its a K5 1975 as it says the frame number is CB750 - 2500001 for a K5 thanks

Yes, that is correct numbers for a K4 engine. The 1st number of the K4 model range was 2300001 and the K5 started with 2500001. The engine number you are referring to is 25*****, so it's a K5. I would be more worried about the last numbers of the VIN not being identifiable. It would show the month and year of manufacture on the VIN tag.

Thanks so is it a K4 or K5 as the frame number starts with CB750 - 2500 as you said the engine is a K4 as I don’t want to get it if it’s not matching numbers bike as he says in the description all that is original of the bike is the frame & swing arm & lower fork legs & wheel hubs & engine casings but comes with original engine thanks

Spoke to david silvers today he told its a K51975 and spoke to dvl she told me the manufacturers date is 31/12/74 so something wrong there as it’s the wrong colour so I won’t be getting it the reg no is BBK 610M so if any one wants it it’s on eBay for £5k

A 1975 K5 could well have been manufactured late 74, it takes quite a while to travel from Japan

Yes could be made in 1974 but David Silver told me the K5 was made in 1975 he sent me pictures of the bike what it was like before he restored it the original engine has a lot of damage to the thins on the barrels as he told me the original engine needs the timing doing but it needs more than timing doing to it and it’s got the wrong clocks on it ,wrong colour
